Sex Slang 101: Staying Hip In and Out of the Bedroom
Sex terms all the kids are saying
When it comes to sex, there seems to be new terminology and slang almost every day. But do not fear! We are going to keep you in the know. Here are six slang terms about sex that are pretty popular right now that you may be wondering what they mean and if you are using them correctly.
WAP
This is an acronym that stands for Wet Ass Pussy. This slang term was popularized by Cardi B’s 2020 song “WAP,” featuring Meg the Stallion. It essentially means a well-lubricated vulva, whether naturally or store-bought (and don’t worry, store-bought is perfectly fine.) It can be used as a compliment, so feel free to let your next hookup know they got that “WAP”.
BDE
This is another acronym, and it stands for Big Dick Energy. This originally described a man or masculine individual who had confidence that gave you the vibe that they were slanging something serious. It has since been adjusted and modified for the woman/feminine version to be Big Pussy Energy. BDE became very popular thanks to Ariana Grande’s acknowledgment of Pete Davidson’s BDE in her music video for “Thank U, Next.” BDE has also been popularized thanks to Latto’s “Big Energy” song.
Sneaky Link
A sneaky link is a friend with benefits but a well-kept secret FWB. It is someone that you sleep with, but no one else knows. There are a lot of reasons that someone may be a sneaky link, such as being ashamed of sleeping with them, you previously told your friends you were done with them, or they are a celeb that swore your secrecy. One crucial component of a sneaky link is that they can actually keep a secret. You don’t want your sneaky link to be someone who is infamously known for always telling secrets because the chances are high that they will spill the beans, and then the linking will no longer be sneaky.
Gluck Gluck 9000 / Gawk Gawk 3000
Now this slang term has many variations, but it is essentially a fancy code name or superpower name for phenomenal blowjobs. It is a really sloppy blowjob with lots of saliva, deep throating, and sound effects similar to “gluck gluck.” The phrase came from the host of the Name Her Daddy podcast.
Aftercare
This isn’t a new slang term as it has been a part of kink/BDSM culture for decades, but it has become more mainstream and is encouraged for even vanilla sex. Aftercare is the intentional taking care of, checking in, and calming activities post-sex (and sometimes even emotional or tense situations.) Aftercare looks different for everyone but can include cuddling, eating snacks together, debriefing about the experience, taking a shower together, deep breathing, or whatever grounds you after an experience.
Bussy
This is a queer slang term relating to sex, and it essentially means boy pussy and describes the anus. The phrase has grown in popularity, making its way to Tik Tok and becoming more common knowledge. It is important to recognize and honor that this slang is rooted in queer culture, so keep that in mind when using it. And if you are unsure how to use it, enjoy this experience of Jack Antonoff learning about it and how it is used.
Now that you are more hip to current sex slang, you can more confidently engage in conversations about sex and not be completely lost. Hell, go use one of these terms to see if you can stump the younger ones in your life!
