May 14th is Online Romance Day, and in our digital age and society, it is worthwhile knowing how to use the many different forms of technology at our disposal to enhance or add in some romance. Romance is a tricky thing, and knowing how to use technology for romancing can be even more difficult; we know this, and that’s why we’re here to help. Here are four ways you can use the digital space to romance your partner.
Create a playlist
If you’re a millennial or older, you are no stranger to mixtapes, and though we don’t regularly use tapes and CDs anymore, it doesn’t mean we can’t show someone how much we love them through music. Put together a playlist with songs that make you think of your partner(s), songs that you think will make them dance, or songs that you would like to have sex with them to. You can make the playlist using any music app, be it Spotify or Apple Music. If you want to take the playlist and romance to the next level, create cover art. You can make a cute collage in Canva and use it as the playlist cover so that every time they click it, they will see the picture you created.
Send an email
Now you might be like, what the heck to this one, but there’s a vision. Use email like Big did in Sex and the City: The Movie. Imagine how much better your partner(s)’s day will be seeing a lovey-dovey email from you in their inbox amid the workday. If you aren’t a wordsmith, then you can be even more like Big and send the words of great authors, like your partner(s)’s favorite author. If you are a wordsmith, feel free to write from your heart. You don’t just have to write lovey-dovey emails, though. You can also write some naughty messages about what you want to do to or with them when you both get home later. For maximum efficiency, you should schedule the emails to send so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to send one.
A picture’s worth a thousand words
If words aren’t your thing, consider creating a shared photo album with your partner(s). You can make one using Photos on iPhones or Google Photos. You can share pictures of things that will make your partner smile, like funny memes or pics of your pets throughout the day when they aren’t around. You can also use it as a way to tease date nights or fun surprises. Take a picture of a notecard that says something cute like “Will you go on a date with me?” then they can edit it and send it back saying yes or no. If they say yes, you can send them clues of what the date is going to be, or you could send pictures of what y’all are going to wear. The options are endless.
App-Controlled Toys
Using an app-controlled toy lets you play with your partner, near or far, with the internet. You can choose from so many different app-controlled toys, but my personal favorites are the We-Vibe Moxie+, Aya Wearable Vibe, and the We-Vibe Bond. App-controlled toys can spice up date night, whether you go out or stay in. They also allow for intimacy and connection when you and your partner are away from each other. There are so many additional functions with app-controlled toys that also make things more fun. You can connect them to music (stored on your phone) so you can use the playlist you made for them to make sex even more interactive, and you can draw your own vibration patterns.
Regardless of where you and your partner(s) are located you can use technology and the digital space online to add some romance, spice, and fun to your relationship in many different ways. We live in a highly digital age, so why not embrace it and use it in our relationships?!
